Activating a new MECA First Class account.

To activate an account, the fair use agreement must be accepted.  To do this:

1. Go to the website http://fc.meca.edu and click the "Activate Account" link

2. Enter USER ID <first initial followed by last name> (if there is a redundant username in the system, the username would be <first initial followed by middle initial followed by last name>

3. Enter PASSWORD <for students this is the five digit school i.d. number of the student>

4. Press LOGIN and proceed through "Login Success" screen by pressing Continue.

5. The screen will proceed to the use agreement proceeded by the following text:

“Please read the
Electronic Communication Policy. When you have read and understand the policy, click either I Agree or I Do Not Agree. By choosing I Agree you are indicating that youhave read, understand, and agree to the terms, conditions, guidelines, and responsibilities which are detailed in the policy.

In order to activate your MECA FirstClass account, you must agree to the policy. You may choose not to agree, however, if you do so, your MECA FirstClass account will remain unactivated.”

6.  To finish the activation process the user must ACCEPT the agreement and press continue.  (The activation process takes up to a minute.)

7.  Quit the web browser and log in using the client installed on a MECA computer OR

Download the Mac or Windows client from
http://fc.meca.edu/clientdownloads

Accounts may also be accessed through a web browser at the same address.  If using a web browser to access an account be aware that the web browser must be exited/quit in order to log-out.  There is a potential security risk when accessing using Internet Explorer.  There is the possibility to have Internet Explorer configured so that the username and password information is cached.

8.  On-line help for using first class is located in the "First Class Help" Conference within the "Technology" Conference.  Included here is a file called "FirstClassReferenceGuide.pdf" which can be viewed or printed using Adobe Acrobat Reader.
